Activities

April 2007 Donation of excessive seedlings

We provided 240 seedlings for a tree planting ceremony hosted by Gadjah Mada University, with the attendance of primary school students living around Wanagama experiment forest.
Receiving the requests for fruit tree seedlings from the residents of Paliyan district and Ngnut village, we donated 2,500 and 1,500 seedlings respectively from this year's remaining seedlings.

May-June 2007 Patrolling planting sites 2005 and 2006

From late July, the dry season, a harvest of cassava planted alongside the planted trees began. During this time, the nearby residents come to pull up the stumps or dig around the stumps to make it easier to pull it up. To ensure that the roots of the planted trees remain uncut, we carry out a work instruction patrol lasting until mid-September.
After April, rice followed by peanuts are harvested leaving cassava to be reaped in the dry season. In relation to the precautions, we hold a gathering with the people living in the community and explain not to damage the planted trees during the harvest time.

Announcing precautions to the local farmers prior to harvesting the farm crops, and wildlife reserve office staff and KTI staff going through precautions and ways to patrol.

Upon visiting the project site, Chairman Shin received explanation from the research group at Gadjah Mada University about the environmental effect of the project, and later planted a tree to commemorate the visit.

At Gadjah Mada University, we have asked for a research to be carried out to examine whether the project contributes to recovering indigenous flora and fauna. In order to track this, we are conducting a research focusing on habitat situations of birds and insects respectively.
