We, all the members of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (hereinafter “MSIG”), would like to express our deepest sympathy for the victims of the cyclone that hit the central and southern parts of Myanmar and the major earthquake in Sichuan and neighboring provinces in China, and sincerely pray for the communities' earliest recovery.
Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “MSI”) (President: Toshiaki Egashira) and its group companies are soliciting for both personal relief donations from our staff around the world, and corporate donations from the group companies in Asia and other regions, intending to make a total donation of some 23 million yen, through Japanese and foreign charity organizations. Besides this initiative, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (China) Co., Ltd. already made a donation of approximately 2.2 million yen to the Shanghai Red Cross on May 16.
The donations from this initiative will consist of the personal donations offered by our staff and the equal amount of donation by the company, according to our internal charitable fund-raising scheme, a “Matching Gift Program for Disasters”.
