| A Donation
by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group toward Losses and Survivors Caused
by the Indian Ocean Tsunami and Off-Sumatra Coast Earthquake |
As a large section of Asia's coastal areas including people in
those nations have been suffering from Indian Ocean Tsunami and Off-Sumatra
Coast Earthquake on 26th December, 2004, we would like to convey our
most condolences and sympathy over the loss of life or people who
have been suffering from the recent disaster.
We, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Limited (President and CEO,
Mr. Hiroyuki Uemura), together with 20,000 employees of our group
companies over the world both in Eastern and Western countries have
decided to make cash donations, worth almost 40 million Yen as support
for tsunami survivors and disaster areas through the government funds
both in Japan and overseas.
Donation will be spread out from present Mitsui Sumitomo Group's inner
system that gathering money for preparing against any arisen disaster
caused by fire or any other unexpected causes-called matching gift
system-which the company shall contribute money three times more than
a donation collecting from all employees. |

Amount of donation |

As a general rule, the company shall contribute
money as same amount as what collecting from the
employees (Matching Gift).
*However, in view of the current situation and disaster's
scale, the donation this time shall be three times
more than the donation collecting from all employees |

*Other than those mentioned above, the company would like to request
for the kind cooperation of all staff members such as Indonesia, Thailand,
India, Malaysia, etc. to join with the company in this donation. |
