"Eco-Asset";
a brand-new consulting service to support
the best-use of green space owned by a company.
- To help enterprises to be more socially responsible through green
space stewardship |
| InterRisk Research Institute & Consulting Inc. (Mitsui Sumitomo
Insurance Group), Sumitomo Forestry Landscaping Co. Ltd., Kajima Corp.,
and Kokusai Kogyo Co. Ltd. |

InterRisk Research Institute & Consulting (president: Masashi
Yasuda), Sumitomo Forestry Landscaping (president: Takashi Nishiura),
Kajima Corporation (president: Sadao Umeda), and Kokusai Kogyo (president:
Kiyotaka Tanaka), will start the "Eco-Asset" consulting
service, which stimulates green space utilization of a company, from
April, 2004.
This service is to support development of management systems for green
spaces or forests which a company holds. And it is to propose revision
of maintenance technique or cost, and a new utilization program.
As activities for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pick up stream,
a company gives its eye on conservation of "green space"
or "nature" as environmental protection activity.
An adoption of "Eco-Asset" service will result in an effective
utilization of company's green space/forest as a local environmental
resource and it also leads to the improvement in social value of a
company. |

Background of
consulting services |
 |
 |
|
- While tackling CSR, the number of companies is increasing, which
worry about how to utilize their own green spaces and forests in the
view of a social action program or a local investment. |
|
- In Europe, "Preservation of Landscape and Amenity",
"Conservation of Biodiversity", "Protection of a Wildlife
Habitat", etc. are important subjects of CSR rating. Moreover,
in the proposed amendment of annex of ISO 14001, an activity for the
indirect environmental aspects such as "an aspect relevant to
wildlife and biodiversity", is also considered as important,
and it is thought that needs of green space asset utilization consulting
will increase also in Japanese companies. |
|
- The four companies, InterRisk Research Institute & Consulting,
Sumitomo Forestry Landscaping, Kajima Corporation, and Kokusai Kogyo,
have considered that the needs for "local environmental creation
through utilizing company green spaces" have increased and have
decided to start "Eco-Asset" service in four-company collaboration.
This concept of "local environmental creation through utilizing
company green spaces" have been the purpose of the "Ecological
Industrial Sites Information Network" study group which was established
in 1997 and consists of companies and NPOs including the four companies
as the prime members. |
