February 26, 2004 MSI invests in a Cambodian general insurer Completing its facility network in ASEAN Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (President: Hiroyuki Uemura) decided to purchase 25% of shares in a promising Cambodian general insurer, Asia Insurance (Cambodia) Limited. MSI now has a branch, subsidiaries, and affiliates in all eight ASEAN countries where foreign general insurers are permitted to get a license.     1. About MSI's facility network in ASEAN countries (1) MSI started its overseas Asian operations in Thailand in 1954, the earliest among the Japanese general insurers. (2) MSI has been operating in ASEAN countries for the last 50 years, currently locating a branch, subsidiaries, and affiliates in all eight ASEAN countries where foreign general insurers are permitted to get a license. (Foreign insurers are not permitted to get a license in Myanmar and Laos.)
