Public Environmental Workshop

Since 2005, we have been providing open environmental lecture courses widely for the general public including residents near the Surugadai building and anyone who is interested in urban tree planting. At each lecture, we invite a guest lecturer to present on topics of environmental issues and local contribution work. The courses are hosted by Nami Katsuragi, who is not only known as an actress and TV anchor, but also as a column writer for an outdoor magazine, reporting on her experience. We are planning to continue holding these courses regularly in the future.

2007 Course Information

7th Series: "Climate Change in the Tokyo Area due to Global Warming and Heat-Island Effect"

(Forecast Research Department, Meteorological Research Institute of Japan Meteorological Agency)
He is a leading researcher in the field of heat-island and torrential rain in urban areas and regional weather phenomena, such as typhoon and strong wind. His research in recent years investigates changes in temperature and rain patterns resulting from changing climate.
Lecture Content His presentation was on how our climate has been and will be affected by global warming and heat-island effect.
